I'm sure some here check out Woodcentral, but for those who don't there's been an interesting series of threads about making wooden spoons with handtools in an hour. (I thought about posting this to handtools here but it ought to be of wider interest :)).

Some good reading, and some great examples.

After burrowing through the various messages I came across these, which are both inspirational and instructive:

The first (inspirational) is Barry Gordon's website; he's a pro spoonmaker and does very nice work:

The second (instructive) is a pdf of an article he wrote, explaining the process in detail. Well worth a download.

Yet another project to add to my ever-growing and never-shrinking tuit list  :) .

Sorry - for those that don't have it, Woodcentral is here:

Pete,
Thanks for the links to Barry Gordon's site - very interesting. I have been following the spoon thread and when I get done with my present mammoth tool cabinet project, I shall give it a go.

Mmm, I've been following it too. Almost moved to rummage through the firewood pile and wipe the woodworm corpses from the drawknife blade. But the moment passed and I'm quite myself again now.

Cheers, Alf
