Cheap tools are often not worth it, spokeshaves are tricky little buggers at the best of times, all you need is a poorly made one to really throw a spanner in the works.

Link sends me to the axminster homepage. If its the axminster own brand one, then I have the one with the curved base. Its rubbish and a waste of money.

Buy a Stanley or record second hand one, they aren't that expensive

No stress dude. Some might think I'm a very bad man for saying this but some of the faithfull tools are actually ok although I cant verify the quality of their spokeshaves http://www.faithfulltools.com/c/c/Spokeshaves. Search for them on e-bay and they are much cheaper than the rrp on the main site.
