Spkeshaves from Axminster

I have been looking to buy a spokshave for a while.
Anyone have any experience of these?

Cheap tools are often not worth it, spokeshaves are tricky little buggers at the best of times, all you need is a poorly made one to really throw a spanner in the works.

Link sends me to the axminster homepage. If its the axminster own brand one, then I have the one with the curved base. Its rubbish and a waste of money.

Buy a Stanley or record second hand one, they aren't that expensive

I have one of these, http://www.workshopheaven.com/tools/Quangsheng_Adjustable_Spokeshave.html can't fault it. Or anything else I have brought from Matthew.

Buying tools is simple (ish), buy quality the first time and try to avoid wherever possible thinking you can get something for nothing, how do I know?????????? #-o #-o #-o

Not really. That's as much as I paid for my Inca bandsaw.

Thanks to all for your opinions, I suspected it was too cheap, but then again, there has been a lot of praise for Axminster stuff in these forums.

No stress dude. Some might think I'm a very bad man for saying this but some of the faithfull tools are actually ok although I cant verify the quality of their spokeshaves http://www.faithfulltools.com/c/c/Spokeshaves. Search for them on e-bay and they are much cheaper than the rrp on the main site.

Maybe I'll just keep an eye on eBay for a wooden one.

I used to have a Stanley, about 40 years ago. I wonder where that went....
