Spindle Roughing Gouge Tuition for New Turners

An oft repeated mantra from experienced turners is NEVER USE A SPINDLE GOUGE on a BOWL BLANK.

Emphasis is often put on the danger of the tool failing and bending or snapping off in your hand because of the Weak Tang, this is a good demonstration of a another reason the practise is better avoided.

Good point Paul, always wondering if anybody actually bothers to read the sticky links we generate, still if it just prevents one individual loosing a finger or something more serious I guess it's worth the link.
