Hi Andy

The TZ30 was made by Robland in Belgium, Startrite were the agent here. The shaft is possibly frozen and may need to be gently heated with a blow torch and cooled to free it. Sorry, but I'm not familiar with this Robland but if you've taken the pin out of the shaft and it won't move than that might be the the cause. Why do you need to remove it, though?

For reference Robland, the maker are still in Belgium (and these days own Knapp, too)

Hi Andy

What speeds does your spindle moulder run at? I seem to recall the Robland was something like 3500/7000 (2-speeds)? If that is the case you'll find it too slow for all but very largest panel raiser router cutters. A spindle moulder is really designed to be used with blocks like these:

I'd look for a spindle block such as the Whitehill one (sold by APTC as their own), ot the Freud/CMT/et al equivalent and buy a few cutter sets - APTC do tCMT tool steel ones at about a tenner a pair (£18 or so if you buy the limiters as well) - so once you've got a block it gets a lot cheaper.

got a large mitre lock bit is the main reason, have not seen this type of cutter for spindle other than a dediceted block for hundreds of pennies.

if anyone knows where to get the mitre lock profile on the euro style cutter block please let me know.
got a cupboard full of currers n blocks for it at mo.

I was taught another technique which requires just a grooving cutter, like this:

For 18mm stock I'd suggest a 6mm groover. Tage Frid shows something similar in one of his books, but done on a table saw.
