Spalted Holly

Cut a Holly Tree yesterday and to my surprise it had 'spaltling' all through it, so I could not resist and mounted it on my lather to see what it looks like turned! Here is a picture of the outside - all I need to do is dry it before I complete the job!

I have turned some spalted holly its great wood to turn when its dry. Problem is drying it as it moves a lot and splits easily, l would rough turn all of it

davebrac thanks for advice about rough turning the whole blank first.

This is a piece very similer to yours it was rough turned 4/5 yrs. ago and finished last week.
Its a pleasure to work with Holly but has to be dryed and looked after very carefully .
The second piece is a natural edged one all from the same piece got about ten pieces .
