Nice pot I love silver birch I Got A lot Of it Here Spalted but Not as much as that That's A fine grain pattern well Done =D>

I've got a bing of birch. I need to bury it in the garden to start the spalting process I think.....

I am going back to see the guy who gave me the birch, his garden is like a small wood, going to ask him where the tree was felled and get some soil from the area and hopefully will beable to have my own little spalting area in my garden!!!!! :lol: Thanks for the replies! it is nice to get feedback from fellow turners

A way to speed up the spalting is by wiping natural yogurt over the log cover it over outside and wait

I did hear that to encourage spalting you need to dampen the wood slightly and put it in an airtight bag with some shavings off another spalted piece you have already turned
