Hi chaps,

Can anyone suggest where I can get hold of the following for a very good price:

* Approx. 120m2 of wood flooring
solid pine/oak floorboards, engineered or convincing laminate at a push. Not parquet

* Approx 40m2 of limestone/travertine floor tiles

I'm renovating our house and for the quantities I need it's going to cost a fortune with store-bought flooring. I've been watching eBay and Bidspotter, but nothing is coming up for sale within 200 miles in the right quantity - mainly leftovers from tiling jobs etc.

Cheers,
Mark

There you go! Clearance Travertine as cheap as you will ever find it, signup for the trade discount if you can and its about £6/sqm!

Bought around 25m2 of it myself recently and it's top stuff and looks just smashing once its done (only a bit fragile to handle).

For flooring- Solid pine floorboards from timberyards about- £8/sqm ( a bit soft however due to it being pine?)
You won't find that quanitity on ebay from left-over jobs ( I have tried as well ;) ) + it takes AGES to hunt down something good + everything is only near London.

However most of my house floors are from ebay leftovers ,where you can usually get about 15-30sqm at a time for circa £5-7sqm for good oak. I have 3 different shades of flooring, somehow it still looks very good! :D

Good luck with your hustle Mark!

Yeah, I bought up all the cheap Wickes travertine tiles from Haverfordwest last week (only store relatively local with more than few packs in stock) and I intend to buy more when I next pass a Wickes which still has any left.

New softwood T&G boards from a timber merchant could be an option; though I hate the yellowy colour of varnished pine, and I've experienced blotchiness when I've stained softwood in the past. However, that's probably down to my ineptitude with regards to finishing.
