I have been given a Junior Sharpedge horizontal wet grinder, which with a new bearing, is in good running order, but it has no wheel... Does anyone know where to get one? The mfr can't help (says anyone who might know long retired ) Most ordinary tool shops carry a very limited range of wheels. I could do with a helpful specialist!

The original wheel was 10" diameter and from the look of the odd picture/spec I've found, was fairly thick (30-40mm,)with a depressed centre. The larger 16" model took an 80 grit wheel. The toolrest is a heavy bar, partially across the wheel. The bore is the standard 1 1/4". The Junior model has no suds pump, rather a gravity tank. The spec for the 16" at G&M tools says use not suds but 'special honing oil' in the tank. Any comments?

Thanks in anticipation, Ivan

Have you tried what used to be Universal Grinding Wheel in Stafford (now St. Gobain)?

Doxey Road
Stafford
ST16 1EA

Tel. 01785 223281

They used to make most types of wheels on the UK. Note: number might be out of date

Old post revival:
Sorry to drag up an old post but I’ve been looking around the forum rather than re-ask a question that may have been asked before.

I’ve just bought a Viceroy Sharpedge 16”
It’s not arrived yet so I’ve no idea what the condition the stone is in looking at the photos it looks good but my question is

Where can I get the wheel redressed or purchase a new wheel if needed?

you can dress it with a diamond dressing tool

something like one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline...ocphy=1006808&hvtargid=pla-423198315995&psc=1
I once looked into a new wheel -they are about £300+VAT

Well I think I’ve found a place that sells the abrasive wheels and a dressing tool just waiting for an eMail back, the brand new 16” wheel they have is 406mm x 30mm just need to find details on the center hole and hollowed out part £230 plus VAT and p&p
Dressing tool is around £30 plus VAT & p&p

Some of them have a ‘built in’ dressing tool, so I wouldn’t get too spendy before it arrives.

The Viceroy arrived to day the wheel is in good condition and a light dressing should get it in a like new condition
Have ordered a dresser but I feel it's over priced but if it does the job. I just hope it's bigger than it looks.
The wheel is the same size as the viceroy. So if anyone needs one.......

Grinding wheel dimensions:
406mm diameter x 32mm deep x 31.75mm bore
Recess: 120mm diameter x 15mm recess
Price: £220 + VAT + Post

They are still making their machine.
The machine they make is called the Bear 1 and Bear 2 and it's an updated copy of the viceroy.
