Any suggests for the best way to reroute this soil pipe so we don't loose as much space in the kitchen?

what is in the room above (toilet?) could you route it to come straight down till just below the units then angled so it is mostly hidden, or is it possible to reroute between ceiling and first floor then drop straight down in the corner

I see there's a waste pipe boss fitted, is this the only connection into the stack?

The soil pipe comes down from the bathroom above. The vertical brick line you can see in the image is the outer wall of the bathroom. The kitchen has sometime in the past been extended to incorporate the old outer toilet hence the route of the soil pipe to the left and down to enter the sewer. The connecting boss is the waste from the bathroom sink and bath - I need to remove the kitchen ceiling to find out exactly how this has been routed. This was then all boxed in wasting a lot of space in the kitchen.

What I would like to do is re- route the soil pipe as it comes down so that less space is wasted and we can make full use of the worktop - the previous boxing in went all the way down to the worktop only left us with about 8".

There are flexible joints available which would allow us to route the pipe to the left higher up but I'm concerned that we'll loose the fall on the pipe. Just really need to know what sort of fall is required.

+1 for above, if you can, alter the pipework on the floor above,
Should this not be possible use a pair of swept 90 o bends with rodding access, snugly under you're pictured ceiling.
At least the lower part of the pipe will be behind the brick "pier" line.
When you form the pipe box, use some Rockwool wrapped around , or similar as a fire retardant and also sound deadener, all that rushing water from above.
Regards Rodders

You could fit a macerator in the bathroom and route all your waste down a two inch pipe, routed possibly through the ceiling space and direct down the left hand side, giving much more space.

Thank you for the information and links. Now I have an idea of the fall required I should be able to move it all up higher and box it in there.
Cheers
Mark
