Anybody recommend a suitable pad for sanding a curved surface while maintaining the fairness of the curves? I have a few rudder blades to refinish and I think the standard hard base on my Metabo 450 could introduce hollows.

The camber involved is about 12mm max depth over a width of 230mm, and the aim is to maintain the symmetry of the foil. I could hand sand, but frankly I would rather be sailing. The finish will be International perfection undercoat plus topcoat (2 pack polyurethane), rolled on and tipped with a foam 'brush'.

I've just made one (will put together a WIP when I have a mo) which I wet sanded by hand with abranet from 120 grit up to 400, then wet silicone carbide up to 1200 before compounding and polishing with a Farecla profile, using foam pads on the ROS.

I've found these, but not sure if they're quite the thing as this is the first time I've really had much to do with curved surfaces, Any suggestions?

I'm assuming the non perforated pad would be suitable for wet sanding, so that the machine doesn't suck up the sanding slurry?
