Last year, the Mrs and my 2 kids went to the park (caulderstones) in Liverpool to check out the 1000yr old oak there. It was just dropping acorns at the time, so I bagged a few. Collecting acorns from this tree is encouraged and records kept of any successful growth from them.
Anyway, not being too sure what to do with them, especially after reading many different techniques to planting, I decided to pop them in a pot with some compost and hope for the best.
As you can see from the pic, I currently have 2 shoots from the 3 I planted. Quite chuffed.
Now to find out what to do next. I'm intending on creating a bonsai with 1 which I've dabbled with in the past.
Fingers crossed I can keep them alive.
