Is that the 130 or 135 ?

I think the 135 was the best tractor Massey Ferguson ever produced - engine went forever, and hydraulics better than most larger tractors.
(Although I liked my old 698 turbo as well)

It's a 145, basically the same as the 135 but I think it was made exclusively for the French market. I think that the only significant difference was that the more powerful version of the Perkins diesel engine was available earlier than in the 135. It has been quite difficult to find info on the 145 as there isn't the same passion for ferguson over here so there just aren't as many owner or club websites.

But it is a very good machine, excellent engine and everything is over-engineered. I expect this one will be around long after me. The 698 was on my shortlist as well but decent tractors don't come up for sale very often here, so when this one became available I jumped at it. There are lots of small farms still going here so tractors are usually kept until they are completely knackered and then just dumped in a hedge or behind the barn. Of the two farms nearest me one still runs a 1956 Renault and the other has a MF 145.

I see from the news that there's more snow forecast for the UK, anyone put a shovel and thermos in the car yet

cheers,

Simon

 Blimey, Simon. Back on topic - and I was just getting into learning about the attributes of some of the Massey Ferguson tractors! :D

Snow hasn't arrived here yet.

Cheers,

Trev.

I've just seen a weather forecast that's predicting snow in Ledbury on Saturday :(.

Pack your tyre chains and parkas, everyone. (Plus the sun hats and sandals - you can never trust those weather forecasters.)

Just got back from a tour of the Bavarian Film Studios just south on Munich.
They still have 20cm of snow on all but the major roads, just a coating of coarse (1cm) gravel thrown on top to allow grip, makes for progress with care in car and on foot.

Been through the Real U Boat Hull used for "Das Boot", mixed feelings looking at all the WW2 torpedo shells etc. as I had relatives on the UK side in the navy on escort duty and in Subs. no wonder the film appeared realistic on the internal shots, they just picked the hull up (in three sections) and shook it, with the motion unpredictable as far as the actors were concerned. Any grimaces from cracked heads, shins & elbows were for real.

Many moons ago when I was in Germany my friend had some fancy plastic gizmos that looked great and wondered if they were still available.

...major snip...Roger

Hi Roger, sorry for the delay in answering have been looking in the local auto stores and asking around but can't find any reference to anything similar.

I must admit that if I still needed to travel on a daily basis I would invest in the Autosock solution, which would get me home from the nearest main road.
(nearly got lynched a couple of days ago when I queried what the word "work" meant in a group discussion)
