Hi All,

A friend of mine has just brought some wooden ash trays back from Africa and wants to know varnish them, but should she use a heat resistent finish? Would another finish be better than varnish? Anticipating your next question - I don't know what wood it is, sorry!

I know that strictly speaking this post should be under 'Finishing', but she wants a quick answer and I thought putting under 'General' would get a quicker reply.
