So far this week I have managed to smash my phone, somehow damage my car and now do this to my P/T. And it's only Wednesday!

It's a Startrite SD310, with one of those soft starts where you have to hold the power on until it's got up to speed. I took too thick a pass while planing and the machine stopped. As I usually do in this situation I removed the piece of timber and started the machine up again. Shortly afterwards I heard a small pop and then saw smoke coming out of the control box.

It looks like I've fried the start switch and whatever other gizmos are attached to it - if anyone can advise me on what has happened and how to fix this it'd be greatly appreciated!

Edit: the P/T is still working and continued to work while it was smoking.
