There are many who spend much time standing up for those not so able to help themselves.
Surely we should applaud their efforts and admire these animals, not ridicule them
 
Though a meat eater I find the idea of eating such intelligent creatures, I won't say animals in this context, pretty awful.

Sounds like you are an expert on this. Why should they not be afforded rights? It is well known that dolphins are highly intelligent and capable of making informed decisions. I for one would certainly advocate a bill of rights.
 
I would add the Great Apes to that as well. I have this vision of ET landing and treating us as pets!
