Never expected that to happen, never occurred to me that someone would Die-Cast such a component, although I had noticed that the chuck jaws marked the shank rather easily, thought it was just the paint coming off.
In fairness it's had a fair bit of use but this time when I reversed the drive the chuck holding the shank relaxed and the slight miss-alignment caused the shank to sheer at the waist.
Was one of my preferred fittings due to its short length and larger diameter actuation knurled grip, easier to operate, and reduced overhang of attached sanding discs.
Originally from Hope Tools if my memory is correct, think it may have been in a starter/grit selection kit.
