I have some 5.5mm ply to cut up, and my table saw is in storage, so I'm going to use my 130mm diameter handheld circular saw. The blade is an 8 tooth rip blade, and I'm thinking I might get better results with more teeth. Any suggestions?

you could possible get a spacer but 16mm or 5/8" in old money should be common enough.
You could always approach Cutting Solutions, Doug used to post here but not seen him for a while. Great guy and sensible prices. he can get/make any type of blade you could possibly want. Good for planer knives too.

I've ordered a couple of blades on Amazon. One is 2.2mm thick, which is 0.2mm thinner than the riving knife. I'll see how it goes next week

Thanks.
Methinks you're not getting far with a kerf that is smaller than your riving knife. You'll end up trying to push a 2.4mm RK through a 2.2mm gap - a recipe for disaster with a powerewd saw of any kind surely?
