Sketchup Component material type on MAC

I've built my shelving unit putting every part as a component so I can use cutlist plugin but I cannot find any way to set the component material types. I believe I have to set them to one of 'sheet veneer plywood hardboard mdf' but cannot seem to set them. There are no property types that I can see on my version 8 of Sketchup. I am guessing that is the windows version. Thanks.

OK, Found the entity info and material selection box but there is no material type for the above required. Is there a way of adding a new material type ?

Which also explains how to download them and create a new texture which I can then select as the component material types.

Got to say I am impressed with the SVG cutlist output, very cool.
