Greetings

Is anyone actually producing joints with this bit of kit yet?

I ordered a 12.7mm bearing guided cutter from Trend, and guess what.... I got 1/2" sockets and 3/4" tails!!

Presumably, I should have ordered the "other cutter", the 14.(something)mm one:

Can anyone confirm the tip size of the right cutter? I'd be eternally grateful

Pete

i have managed to successfully produce dovetails.

from page 154 fo theTrend 2002 catalogue, you want C162 (@ £10.80 +vat)

but I actually ordered my cutter from axminster,
" P217011 PERFORM P217011A 1/4" SHANK DOVETAIL CUTTER FOR AP"

at

http://www.axminster.co.uk/default.asp?part=DTJ

its exactly the same, but cheaper.

TIP : make sure that the grub (the the bearing collar) screw is done up tight before you start up the router!!!!
I did`nt and the grub screw shot across the workshop @ 100MPH never to be seen again!!!

Hi Steve

Thanks for the info

Nasty, that! Could have shot up yer nostril:  I wouldn't fancy having to explain that at A&E!

Pete

your welcome.

I know!! its tiny as well (1.5 or 2 mm i think)

when you get it going, I`d like to hear what you think if the SIP jig.

I managed to get some fairly nice joint out of it last weekend, a good tip is to print the manual from the axminster site (for their jig).
