I have been reading other people's messages on this site for quite a while and have been watching quite a few videos. I didn't quite appreciate the inaccuracies of my Makita MLT100 table saw until very recently, so I have been doing some simple upgades... The first was to make the fence 'true' and stiffer, using some spare pieces of Ash floorboard. There are many neater versions on line and more sophisticated ones, but this simple jig has worked fine for me (so far!)
And I have also just improved the mitre gauge by making my own hardwood bar, which fits snugly in the odd-sized groove and makes the mitre gauge much more accurate. I'm something of a novice (in experience, not age) but found these quite easy to do and satisfying.
