Is there a list of wood turning supplies shops by region anywhere online? After moving house some time back I'm keen to know what outlets there are in the south central area.

Only found two within reach so far, Yandles and John Davis.

Toolpost in Oxford too but that's a bit out of your way. John Davis is my favourite.....Yandles too far for me. John Davis himself is a decent bloke who lets you try things out on his lathes if you need to. He's also good for deal cutting. I find peter at Toolpost a bit of a curmudgeon if I'm completely honest and have never been to Yandles.

Hi Bigbud. I don't know if the quest42 link was your own page, but if so you my want to remove ATS Timber Services and probably John Boddy (owned by ATS). I bidded in the liquidation auction of ATS Timber Service's stock. During the viewing period somebody stole all the woodturning tools that were on offer so you should keep an eye out for boot sales offering dodgy bargains. I picked up a small amount of wood, some odd hardware bits and some glues and finishes.

Other than that, thanks for a very useful list.

Cheers!

+1 for John Davis.
Since moving up to this part of the world I really miss dropping in to see John. Good prices and great timber.

I also miss the Toolpost which has a selection of tools second to none IMHO but the prices tend to be slightly higher. Peter's boxwood is very good too.

HTH
