Shinwa sliding T bevel Gauge (250mm)

Just received my Shinwa sliding bevel gauge from Japan.

For £10 this thing is incredible. The machining and finish, with the beautiful brass clasp knob are excellent.

Highly recommended if you are after one if these.

Ooh, ooh, I like the look of that, the ones I have are a real pain, I slightly prefer the wing nut over the long thumb lock wotsit but both just get in the way far too often, particularly when transferring an angle to the chop saw. I like the idea of the screw on the end of the stock. Is it smooth to use and lock?

Seems there are two different types, one quite resonably priced and one with a bottle opener on the end and quite expensive, are we comparing like with like?:

Locking is fine, it has a consistent action but is not slack, if that makes sense.
