Hey Guys,

I've made a veneered case and its going to be outside with me and may get a bit wet from time to time.

I have rubbered on a few coats of Mylands french polish and have not bodied up yet, (the mahogany pores are still visible) and want to make it more weather proof and full bodied/smooth.

Whilst I my local B&Queued for ages aerosol polyurethane caught my eye.

Can I use aerosol polyurethane on top of shellac base?

Has anyone here done this with success?

Thanks :?:

Safest way to find out is test it on a bit of scrap , time consuming but safest bet.

Alternatively repost in the finishing advice section.

Shellac will bond to most top finish coats. Just be sure to allow it to gas off before coating with another substance, otherwise you run the risk of the surface developing a clouded / blemished finish.

Ooops, I m so used to hanging out in "Handtools" that I was unaware of "Finishing".

Thanks for the advice guys, looks like ill be ok, if I need more Ill go over the fence to "Finishing".
