Sharpening/Honing cutters

Hi All, for a while it has passed in my mind the want to buy a Stanley 45. After a while, however this wish has fallen down.
Why?
The multiple shapes of cutters. :roll:
How can I sharp and honing those?
Perhaps with an electric grinder? Perhaps it is!
How would you do? or how do you do?

Gabriele,

The recommendation is usually to lap the flat back of the blade to sharpen, and just remove the wire edge on the bevel side, for which you can use slipstones or abrasives wrapped round suitably shaped dowels. I tend to put more work into the bevel though, as I did here. The #45 has an real advantage over a wooden moulder though; no sole so you don't have to make the cutter match exactly. That gives you some leeway in your shaping. :wink:
