I use a Mac. When I send attachments in an email I do have the option to make them 'Windows Friendly' ...whatever that means. But it needs extra keystrokes and I'm a lazy sod and so I never bother.

Recipient with PC 'X' will be able to open the attachment OK.

But another recipient with PC 'Y' will reply saying "no attachment" and so I have to resend using the Windows Friendly option.

So why does this happen ? Different versions of Windows ?

no no roger, it's just that some PCs are a bit snobby and won't lower their standards to acknowledge a mac.

in reality yes it just depends on the version of windows and macOS and how up to date they are

If it's the issue I'm thinking of, it's because Mac tries to put the file "inline" - that is, in the body of your email. This might make sense if you're embedding a picture or the like, but makes no sense in many situations, and Windows doesn't expect it.

I think there's an option to attach to email or end of email or something, instead of just "attach", which ought to do it.
