Morning forum,
I need some decorative white timber for my boat and a recently felled holly tree in the back garden is ideal for this. The trunk has been rough cut into 15mm x 40mm x 2.5m planks that are currently hanging in the garage.

Any hints or tips on how to season this stuff? Any help would be much appreciated!

Regards,
David.

Just cut some Holly logs today approx 8-10" diameter and 12-18" long.
From bitter past experience I knew that I had to IMMEDIATELY seal the ends so slathered on a really thick coat of neat Bond It PVA glue and then another asap.
In the past the shakes have been horrendous and also twists.
I only want short pieces for some small jobs so I hope all will be well when it dries out (couple of years??). I have heard that keeping wrapped in plastic is good too.is well worth it, turns beautifully and is great to wrk with planes and a lovely colour.
Regards
martin
