Hi,

Im looking at starting to organise my tools into stacking boxes, I originally started looking at Makita makpack boxes. I read some reviews of people saying the latches can be very stiff.

which leads me onto the Sealey boxes. they appear to be slightly different in design. I'm assuming there cant be much difference in terms of quality with just a plastic box, or am i wrong?

Has anyone any experience that could help me decide on what to get?

Build some drawers in a cabinet stacking box's are a pain to get anything out of, you have to take the top off each one to see what is inside and its always the box on the bottom that has what you want in it, pull a drawer out and there it is, only my opinion that is, but I find it much easier to pull out a drawer and put it away.

Do you keep your tools mostly in the workshop or do you do a few site based jobs? If you do site work, systainer type boxes are fantastic. For the workshop, they are expensive overkill in my view. If you decide to go stacking boxes route, I would build a drawer shelf unit to keep them in for access (look up the MFTC by Benchworks to see what I'm on about)

I am in my final year of uni so don't have a a workshop. I have to keep the tools in my bedroom which is why i would like a neat way to store them. But i also work as a handyman part time so i do take my tools out with me.

Are the latches really that bad on the boxes, or is that people just being picky with them?

The Makita boxes are absolutely fine. The latches are not a problem at all for people who have normal (not arthritic) fingers. I have a stack of them in my store where I keep rarely used (these days) lutherie tools and various parts for musical instruments. Never had a problem.
