I use cheapo glue sticks from The Works.. drying time is negligible, just stick 'n' go. I reckon PVA would soak the paper too much?

Experiment with old PVA glue well diluted; works a treat for me

1. cover wood both sides with cheap blue decorators masking tape

2. Glue pattern to the blue paper as above

3. cover both sides with clear parcel tape; sometimes called Sellotape

4 Do the biz with scroll saw

5. Peel off, comes away easy if you used the masking tape :D

note; Sellotape is used because it's believed to lubricate the blade prolonging it's life and less chance of saw burn

A single A4 address label for me every time. You have to print out the pattern anyway so why not print it on to a sticky label? There's no lifting and clean up is fairly easy with the help of a sharp chisel.

Tip one: The label can sometimes be harder to remove when its been attached for a while so only stick it onto the wood just before you cut it.

Tip two: If you find a stubborn bit that's difficult to remove just use a hot air gun to remove it.

I use spray mount. It peels off easily, once you've finished cutting.
