co-incidentally I bought these last week following on from use of a couple of the larger ones lent to me by another forum member for a vice project. I was impressed by their cutting into cross grain beech, esp the way they cleared as they went (which bodes well for lathe hollowing)

I am afraid I can't comment on their use in end grain hardwood yet - and other projects mean I won't have the lathe out to be able to 'test' for at least another week. Sorry.

Anyone tried these for end grain hardwood?

Screwfix reviews are very good but perhaps not from woodturners hollowing hardwoods?

I haven't used the screwfix bits, but I have sawtooth forstner bits and they are great for end grain, plus if you have a diamond hone you can keep them sharp.

but are they metric or imperial ???

I had the same question - although the answer didn't really matter to me.

Early indications are that they are metric, with the imperial sizes given being indicative eg 25mm / 1" measures up at 25 with calipers (but I would prefer to measure a drilled hole to be definitive)
