I have a system for making fruit, until now I have been using a crude wooden screw chuck mounted in a real chuck with real jaws. I have decided that I don't like real jaws so close to my fingers so made a couple of over engineered screw chucks. The only steel I could find was a short end of 6 inch bar of some chrome alloy steel.
Initially after much machining they finished beautifully but holding in a vice soon spoiled that. I also for the first time in 50 years broke a tap :( but now I am ready for the fruit blanks..
