Hi
I have owned a Scheppach HM2 Kombi for a few years and found it to be a good machine. I have in the last few days obtained a planer blade/knife sharpening jig / attachment and although it looks straight forward, I was wondering if anyone had a manual for this.
Having used it for the first time, I noticed that it has left a very large burr on the blade that was quite difficult to remove.

Does anyone have any experience of using this attachment and have any tips on using and setting up ?

Many thanks

Hi,
I had a sharpening jig on my sheppach planer and I suspect this is the same.
The secret with mine was to set the cut very, very fine, almost so fine its not touching, and then to put modest pressure on the slider handle toward the machine ,to remove any slack, and to do about three passes fairly swiftly and smoothly. From what i remember the grinder cup cuts on one side only so I used to do a dummy pass without the grinder actually running to check the set.
The grinder will leave a burr which I removed by hand with my stone, it is a very good jig to save a lot of money on sharpening but it is easy to blue the blade tips if you do too many passes or do the passes too slow.

Many thanks for that information. I fear that in my first attempt I had it set to remove too much material, resulting in some blueing and a very heavy burr.
thanks again
Steve
