Has anyone any experience of putting a finish to a sauna floor please?
I built a sauna back in 1999, in an outbuilding where I work, to plans supplied by the owner
Unfortunately, the sauna floor is quite dirty (again?) as (Boss) people keep using the easier access through the sauna to the gymnasium/fitness room etc from outside and the pine, slatted floor sometimes looks quite grubby.
Can't close off the access so I wondered if there is any reason not to finish the re-sanded floor in a good water based clear floor varnish, that I already have, perhaps just the area affected area,
Seasons greetings to you all, Rodders

Just hope it's not folk in outdoor footwear heading through the sauna! But following that line of thought, possibly some sacrificial, or at least removable, duckboards over the refinished floor would be a good idea?

I being only half Finnish would say, why are you wearing shoes or for that matter any clothes in the sauna at all? I
I noticed that member Heimlaga is a full blown Finn, he will know.....
Clear Osmo?

As I said in the original post, people keep using the sauna as a short cut to the showers, Gymnasium etc, so the slatted floor is very grubby.
I'm going to give the floor slats a coat of clear floor finish tomorrow, just the width of the door.
The family guests will be here Tuesday, so that will be one of the last jobs before Santa gets here.
Regards Rodders
