I’m a newcomer to woodworking and just finishing my first project - a hardwood end grain chess board - does anyone have any advice on how to varnish it etc....it’s ash and ( I think ) oak and I want to get a decent high gloss finish that will last ?
So far I’m sanding it with 80 grit, but not sure the best way to complete, any product names of varnish etc would help.
