Yes ALF, I think mine were those big s*ds.

Thought at the time of using one of my plug cutters but not desparate for anymore stock so I didn't proceed.
 
The other problem with pallet timber is that it isn't always "best quality" so be prepared for splits, shakes, etc. I've found the biggest pallets can be had from sheet metal fabricators, ductwork companies and the like who are generally glad to see the back of it (pallets 20 x 5 feet are not uncommon with 4 x 4in cross bracings so you'll have to break it up in situ). The most beautiful stuff I've ever had came in a pallet from Italy a few years back - solid olive wood only discovered when it was put across the planer (it was indescribably mucky). BTW, does anyone know if Honda still ship motorbikes in luaun/meranti packing cases like they used to?

this method of nail removal was recomended by a pallet maker!


stack the pallets set them on fire when reduced to ashes use a magnets to collect the nails :wink:
