Hi all, I've just finished making A new door for my shed and was intending on finishing it with Sadolin woodstain (teak) then gloss of some kind. The teak colouring is A bit too orange or rust coloured so I was going to thin it down and do two coats however on the tin it says that new wood should be rubbed down with methylated spirit, not white spirit. Does this mean I should not use white spirit to thin it down?
I have made the door out of basic construction grade pine and I have treated the knots with sealer ,should I treat the door with some sort of preservative before I apply the stain?
Any advice welcome . Phil.
