Folks,

I’ve just learnt that sadly Ray Key passed away on Friday.

Ray was a founder of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain and instrumental in helping wood turning develop and flourish in the UK.

He was internationally respected.

I was lucky enough to been part of a class on a couple of occasions he taught in Bristol where his emphasis on form and shape were his key trademark and valuable truths I carry to this day.

You will be much missed Ray.
Simon.

I heartily agree, I never saw him demonstrating, but at one time he had a shop in Evesham (he lived in one of the local villages) where my wife and I bought a couple of items which we still have. Rather strangely, I also met him on the train from Evesham to London a couple of times and had a brief chat with him, a real gent.
