I have a problem with my S I P planer. When the start button is operated their is a “ buzzing “ noise but motor does not work. The motor and blades turn freely by hand! Any suggestions appreciated.

The switch may be faulty, if you are ok with electrics you could open it up and bypass the switch to check. I had this on an old table saw and the bypass proved the switch was faulty.

I might embarrass myself here - does it have a drive belt? If so, have you checked it . . . . . ?

Thanks, yes, it’s the drive motor itself. I think it may be the solenoid which is the problem.
