Anybody use any of the following products for rust prevention? Example: To spray on a bandsaw bed / bobbin bed / hand planes and other wood working tools.
If used on a bandsaw bed after application--of whatever is used--what product would you wax the bed for smooth running?

Choices would be: (After a bit of research)
a) WD40
b)WD40 Specialist Long Term Corrosion Inhibitor (Sounds to me as it's 'leave on all winter' spray)
c)GT85
d) Mineral Oil (Which one?)
e) Use a small greenhouse heater

Many thanks.

e) Yes, this can help prevent condensation
a) and c) are pretty useless beyond a few days to a week, easy but no use unless you reapply every few days
b) new to me
d) should be better than the sprays if you use a thicker one but would need cleaning off :-(
Recommend - Metalguard followed by Liberon table wax, renewed every 6 months or so, and specifically on the run up to winter.
And throw a piece of old synthetic fleece fabric over your tables - it helps to stop condensation from warm damp air hitting freezing cold metal that has been cooling down all night when you pop into the shop on a wet morning.

Farmer giles did a product test on a few differant rust preventers and of the ones he tried wd4O worked the best. I have used renaissance wax, boeshield and wd4O and the wd4O has worked the best. For long term rust prevention the best stuff I have used is waxoyle as used for spraying inside car chassis. I have had machines sit outside under a cover for years and this stuff has prevented rust.
