I built a router table....nothing special
ready to go apart from fence
I have used hand held router for years so confident ish
i now need to do some round overs on pieces 1000x150mm
i intend using the "pin" in my router insert
do i need to consider anything apart from direction ( i am aware right to left)
do i need grippers? or is this safe to hold the work piece
sound like i am a newbie....well yes....as far as table is concerned

Steve

It's not a case of right to left - it's a case of moving the edge of the piece against the direction of rotation of the bit - an important distinction.

Using a pad depends on the size of the piece and how close your hands are likely to get to the router. You do not want to get caught by a router bit - it can grab your whole hand and pull it in

Unless it really is that urgent, I suggest wait until you have a fence installed. Much safer I would think.

When using a bearing guided roundover bit the fence serves no purpose.

If you line up the fence with the bearing then I personally think it makes it quicker and easier than using the pin. No use if your work piece is curved of course.
