I've just watched a video by Jay bates where he uses a router bit by rockler specifically for cutting holes for marbles to sit in.

Does anyone know of if these can be bought in the UK? The bit isn't expensive but by the time you add shipping from the US it's not worth it.

I'm not sure I should be asking this, but how big are your marbles?

Have a look at these: http://www.wealdentool.com/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Core_Box_202.html

The range isn't complete in the bigger sizes but does go up to 50.8mm diameter (2"). There's quite a few between 1/2" and 1".

Cheapest is 13 quid, most expensive 46 (but that's the 2" one).

HTH,

E.

PS: Being Wealden, they should last well.

I just bought one funny enough. I bought a 12mm one to do some flutes. Excellent quality as always from wealdens.

the genuine marble cutter is different though- more like a keyhole bit.

Rockler ships to the UK, in fact for a US retailer they're pretty slick with international sales so it's a painless process. As opposed to one guy I tried to buy from, who said all he'd accept is dollar bills sent through the post, I guess he won't be winning the US version of the Queen's Award For Exports!
