Hi,

I had an Axminster collet extension, but I am not sure whether it had been dropped, but it seemed off balance and the router vibrated teribbly when mounted in my router table.

I was going to order a trend one, but wanted to check whether vibration is a problem when using an extension?

The router is a heavy duty AEG unit which has not been used much. Without the Axminster extension it runs fine.

I have the Rutlands extensions (the cheaper ones not the precision one) and they run fine in a Trend T9 mounted in a table. No vibration at all even with large bits. Sounds like your might not be straight. Have you tried varying the height and see if this affects the vibration?

Tried different heights, but makes no difference. Even tried different cutters too, but still get awful vibration.

I will have a look at the Rutland offering.

Thanks

i have a cmt one and did get some vibration when i used it on an elu 1/2".

The vibration is nerve racking and the one time I did use the extension I was a little apprehensive. I don't think using a router with such vibration is safe

Same here. The elu router that wobbled to death is still in the office, the replacement cmt extension is in the back of the router drawer- I have no wish for a brown trouser moment again any time soon. I might try finding some videos in use, be interesting to see what should happen :D
