Nothing to apologise for. Titman were renowned for their starter sets of cutters. A few years back if you went to B&Q or similar for router cutters, as people used to, Titman was pretty much your only choice. They perhaps weren't thought of as the highest quality, and I guess they got a bit squeezed by the Chinese on one side and Wealden on the other.

They were pretty good in the early days although they didn't have the competition in the market that there is now.

We were stockists in the 80s, carried the full range in quantity and sold in decent volume to the trade, mainly joinery shops, shop fitters and sign companies. Had very few returned from memory.

They were always good quality bits they sold....not far from me either. I once rang them up to enquire about buying a specific bit from them directly but was told I'd have to buy through a dealer. I've still got a few Titman cutters that I've had for many years and the cutters have still got plenty of life left in them.

He has some ridiculously nice kit... but some of his working practices are worrying and he comes across as a bit of a blagger. And his ‘recommendations’ are likely all paid for by those companies and therefore bias and untrustworthy (as with many youtubers). Just my perception of him anyhow

I don't find that at all, and he frequently does videos onvery cheap stuff too, like the bang good tools where he points out the pros and cons.

He's definitely a blagger, looks like a lotto winner who just bought everything he could, then started making mainly wood/resin tables and wants stupid money for them. Personally i find him cringeworthy and avoid his nonsense.

Bit of an aside, but apparently lots of woodworking supply, import companies in the UK are family run on quite strict Christian lines.
No idea why, perhaps woodworking is compatible with their ethos.

When we sold them in the 80s no-one could buy direct, or at least that's what we were led to believe, so had to come through suppliers like ourselves and credit cards use would be between us and the customer, nothing to do with Titman.
We had a monthly credit account with them so I guess sales took priority over non belief in credit.

I cut pine 99% of the time and the resin sticks to the cutter and a 3 quid router bit lasts as long as a 17 quid Trend bit.

Are you cleaning them at all? If a bit gets serious resin build up I’ll leave it in meths for a soak for about an hour then give it a scrub with a toothbrush. The difference before and after can sometimes be night and day.
