I was resigning myself to having to replace a 1990's DG window and went to measure it up only to realise that it hadn't really rotted at all and all that I was looking at was flaking paint and 'black' wood - OK that latter is the first stage of rot but the wood is perfectly firm - just noticeably damp as it faces west.

Yes I know poor maintenance but I have had other things to deal with this year and missed this one.

So at this time of year what guidance can be given on the recovery action please?

Rob

linseed oil paint, you need a paint that is breathable to replace it, that's what I'd use.
