Hi has anyone used this wood..

Seems to tick all the boxes for outdoor use,
But I tested it on a table outdoors and black mild started to grow on it.

I did not treat it. Just left it as is.

"If there were more Robinia in the world then we would never need to look at tropical timber for our external timber uses."

A pretty ringing endorsement I think you'll agree.

The black mould you're seeing might be more to do with the prevalence of it where you tested it rather than the wood being prone to it. It is very highly rated for exterior use, even in direct contact with soil, so it should be naturally very resistant to fungal attack.

I thought we were talking about a sweet drink made of black currants for a minute there!

Well, the base was metal, painted.
Unless that contaminated it somehow?

I removed the timber anyway and gave it a light coat of polyurethane.
So will do more tests with that.

Lovely colouring though. Pineapple.
