Thanks that's the jobbie I have been offered one price not sorted yet but maybe £450. Who knows what its worth but good to get your comment. Better or worse do you think than a Record two bar later?
 
If it's in good condition, I'd say 450 is a bargain. I used a Record when I was learning, but tbh can't compare properly - I was just doing simple, small things as I learnt and once I got my own lathe, stopped going to the club (which had all Records). I've turned up to 24x5" bowls on mine, it handled that well. It's a solid bit of kit (I'd imagine solid beds have less movement, but I've not had any issues at all).
 
Yes, 1x8, easy enough to get chucks. I use an Axminster SK114, RP SC3 and some older ones that came with the lathe.
