I've been reading K. N. Harris "Model Boilers & Boiler Making" and I came across the page with a drawing of a simple riveting hammer. I just had to make it.
I must say that in the hand it feels like one of the most balanced hammers I've every handled. The drawing in the book is rather simple and I threaded the shaft at both ends, plus peened over the shaft once it had been screwed into the head. The head is mild steel with case hardened faces.
This is a delightfully simple hammer to make and a good addition to the workshop - a perfectly balanced hammer
