Ringing noise with greater stick out?

Looking at the photos, I would suggest cleaning all the grime, grease, swarf etc. off the back face of the spindle register so the chuck has a clean (and hopefully) flat surface to lock against. It's surprising how much difference that can make to vibration.

And if the whole thing is a bit dirty get a round wire brush and clean the morse tapers out while you're at it.
