Looking for something to form a ridge on my shed. The roof is twin wall polycarbonate with a pitch of approximately 25degrees.
Prefer to have only one overlapping join in the length of just over 6 metres.

Thanks. Working my way through them.

Previously used inverted gutter as a cap but anchoring it was the problem. Plus it wasn't really wide enough to stop wind blown rain.

I had the same problem. I cut a 'V' groove with sides the same angle as the roof pitch into a piece of timber the same length as the ridge. You have to cut more grooves to fit over the caps of the glazing bars. This goes on top of the ridge. I then cut lengths of the same timber - 4" x 2" tantalised - to fit between the supporting beams. These need matching 'Vs' to form a ridge not a groove.

Silicone sealer along both sides of the 'Vs' and in the glazing bar recesses. I put the outer length on first and secured it with clamps. position the inside pieces and screw through them into the one above. I used pocket hole screws to fasten the whole lot to the roof beams. The photo probably shows it better than I have explained.

One mistake! Should have put the pocket holes in the bottom not the sides.

It's been up for 6 years and never leaked

Thanks oldfart. I understand your description but that's a lot of work.

I currently use white PVC trim, bolted through the twinwall, that has a thinner centre line to facilitate bending to any angle but it's only 100mm wide thus only overlaps each side by 50mm.

Ideally I'd like something similar but wider but I just can't find any.

Sounds like a good solution ! If you ran a bead of stixall down each side, it's not going anywhere ! The clear stuff seems easier to get out the tube than coloured stuff. Try it on an offcut, job done.

The problem is access & weight. I only have access to one side of the roof & there are only two centre 'A' frame supports made from 13mm angle iron with 19mm angle iron purlins. That gives approx 1800mm between sections & my weight induces some sag which is not conducive to accurate fixing.
If I were to stick it down, I would use clear silicon.

Update.
Managed to find 3m lengths of grey polyester coated metal with 150mm sides for £8 just outside Gloucester.
For anyone else who might be interested these are the Ebay numbers:
263165429331 - Grey poly 118" x 6" = £8 + vat
263165429330 - Green poly 118" x 8" = £10+ vat
263165428016 - Galvanised 96" x 8" = £8 + vat
The seller has lots of other metal roofing sheets etc.
The listings will probably be hard to find unless they are constantly renewed, so if anyone wants the seller's details, PM me.
