Ribbons and bows copy.jpg

The oval box is made of cherry, and the ribbons and bows are made up of laminates purple heart and Yellow heart
The square box I made from Maple with laminates made up of lacewood and Ash.

I gave the boxes a coat of sand and seal followed by several coats of cellulose gloss finish.

Harry.

Harry, they are amazing and I love the high gloss finish. Where did you get the pattern coz I fancy a go at one of those?

Those bows are fantastic. Please post some close-ups of the bows and explain how you made them coz I really fancy having a go at those.

Well spotted Martin.

I spotted this article yesterday afternoon and spent ages trying to access the American woodworker web site without any success. It was taking ages to load before bombing out with an error message. This morning I did manage to access their web site (still very slow though) and managed to download the FREE plan mentioned in your link above.

The page for the web extras is http://americanwoodworker.com/blogs/res ... -2012.aspx and the FREE downloadable PDF plan is right at the bottom of the page. Clicking this link should retrieve it http://americanwoodworker.com/cfs-file. ... attern.pdf

I can't post PDFs apparently but if anyone is still having problems, send me a PM with an email address and I'll email the plan to you.

I've never seen such a thing before and will definitely have a go at it.

Barry
