I am revamping my old desk but need some advise.
The desk is very old but in good condition, it has on the left side 3 draws, the right side 3 draws, in the centre is one large draw that I bang my knees on.
I have removed this draw but it has a supporting braes from left to right, can I saw this out?

Maybe you could raise the desk a little by making a plinth for each side so that the centre drawer clears your knees.
Whether or not it's ok to remove the drawer supports will probably depend on how solid the desktop is.

desks with single centre drawers normally come apart into kit form. Has it got a back panel to the kneehole? If so that will keep the thing stable if you remove the drawer rail. If its on plinths, consider sticking a castor in each corner (8 in total) that can raise the desk up by approx 1".

edit
sorry wtf am I on about - every desk has a centre drawer

need a photo or a link to similar model

The out come...
I slid the draw out with over 40 years of junk in side then got my hand saw, that I found very slow going, of I went and got my electric saw and cut the front support bar out then seeing the desk still standing cut out what only looks like a foot rest strut, desk still ok and my computer plus hi fi on looks firm.
The main point of the desk is, my wife has brought me a foot exerciser but this stands about 3 to 4 inches high, I am using it now, meant to help with circulation in my legs, it better as it was over £100.
The desk it self is not very good looking but is very well made and it fits in my spare room snuggled up to my wife's posh leather top desk.
Thanks all for your help and encouragement your all a good lot on hear.
